Brentwood’s Labour team has called for action to tackle the decline in community infrastructure. Across the borough, alongside the Conservative County Council’s lack of care for the quality of roads and pavements, local assets, from street furniture to litter bins, have been lost or damaged. Missing benches, damaged verges, and bus shelters in poor repair are examples of how a lack of investment is now impacting the community environment. This has made antisocial behaviour a real issue for many residents and is impairing their quality of life. Elizabeth Jerrard said: “We cannot fix everything overnight and recognise that money is tight – but we plan to make investing in our community infrastructure a priority – either by making this investment a condition of our support for measures at the Borough Council or putting real pressure on the County Council to make sure they act to restore our pride in the community.”
“We must also tackle antisocial behaviour, working with the Police and investing Council resources into making sure everyone can enjoy theirlife in Brentwood South.”
